Pallet racking is used by every industry to store raw materials, goods-in-process, and finished products. Storage racks allow you to save space by efficiently utilizing all the area between the floor and the ceiling. Racking is made in a broad range of sizes, capacities, styles, and configurations to accommodate the endless diversity of products that companies receive, store, and ship. This allows every manufacturing operation and distribution center to have a racking system that is configured in an optimal way for their operations.
The storage requirements of your business can change at any time. When they do, moving to a bigger space or adding an addition may not be an option for your budget or your timeline. We offer a wide range of pallet rack systems to help expand your storage in your current space or into a new facility.
At Cranston Material Handling, we strive to provide our clients with the highest quality pallet rack on the market. The types of rack systems most often used by manufacturing facilities and distribution centers include the following:
A pallet rack system is a material storage system that uses horizontal beams attached to vertical upright frames. The beams create storage levels that support the material that is loaded onto the rack.
A pallet rack bay, sometimes called a section, is created by using two pallet rack upright frames as vertical supports. Horizontal beams made of steel tubes, channels, or angles are attached to the uprights. The beams are located at various elevations depending on the height of the loads. Typically, a wire mesh deck is laid across the beams to create a surface that allows the pallet to be loaded and stored securely. A single bay of pallet rack has two uprights. If a row has multiple bays of racking, a standard upright is used between each bay.
For most applications pallet rack upright frames range in size from 4′ to 30′ in height and vary from 24″ to 60″ in depth. Beams ranging in length from 4’ to 20′ can support loads from 1,000 to 15,000 lbs. per beam level. Many accessories can be added to the rack system to optimize the storage system’s usability and safety.
We also offer mezzanine flooring systems in conjunction with the racking to help you consolidate your operations into a smaller footprint to help you to free up valuable floor space for other operations. A mezzanine will also allow you to utilize the available height in your building more efficiently.
